Smart cities can become elderly-friendly by considering smart housing, social participation, respect, inclusivity, civic engagement, as well as community support and healthcare services.
Alexandra Dobre, President of the Association of the Institute for Active Aging, spoke to us about all these aspects during the International Conference on Longevity and Gerontology on the theme ‘Active Aging and Current Interventions for Slowing Cognitive Decline.’
“We’re talking about special transport lines for seniors where they travel separately from younger individuals, who are usually more hurried and noisy. Additionally, we’re discussing elderly-friendly smart homes and programs for inclusion and social engagement for them,” explained Alexandra Dobre.
