This weekend, the International Conference NNS – Nutrition, Nutrients, Health, organized by Ro.aliment Academy, took place and was attended by the most important doctors whose scientific concerns are related to the field of nutrition and healthy lifestyle.
The NNS conference is the most important event of its kind and brings together renowned specialists in the field of nutrition, nutrition, health, researchers and scientists.
The Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania was again this year the partner of the 5th edition of the NNS conference.
The Scientific Senate supports scientific research especially in the field of food research and medicine. The representative of the Scientific Senate at this event was Dr. Alexandra Chiriac, neurologist at the Emergency Clinical Hospital “Prof. Dr. N. Oblu” in Iasi, a well-known influencer in the medical field. Dr. Chiriac gave a lecture with wide applicability in everyday life, on the topic “Food for a healthy brain”.
Dr Alexandra Chiriac is a member of the European Society of Neurology and the Romanian Society of Neurology, and plays an important role in education and research projects in the medical field. She explained that there are some basic elements we need to take into account to make sure that our mind has the right conditions to develop.
The doctor said we need to increase our fruit and vegetable intake, choose the grains we eat, reduce heavy calories, i.e. processed foods, replace unhealthy fats with protein, avoid tobacco and alcohol, hydrate properly and avoid stressful situations.
The event participants learned about the three essentials for a well-functioning brain. “I will say it over and over again: water, oxygen, rest. Water helps the vascular system, cleanses ‘waste’, improves the condition of cells, regulates temperature and hence the positive effects: improves memory, attention, invigorates the whole body. In the morning, when we wake up, I recommend drinking two glasses of water. It is the “fuel” we need to function optimally” said Professor Dr Alexandru Vlad Ciurea, one of Romania’s leading neurologists.
Another essential element is oxygen. “The brain needs a large amount of energy, and this is generated by oxygen-consuming processes. I recommend keeping the windows open in the morning. Because pollution levels in cities are lower in the early hours. I also recommend walks in the park. Respecting, of course, the rules of these times. We have parks and forests, we don’t need to go very far or keep praising other countries. Romania is beautiful!” said Professor Ciurea.
The third element is rest. “Rest is crucial. NOTHING rests the brain better than sleep. I recommend bedtime no later than 10pm. No TV, phone, tablets, etc. All these are at our fingertips. It’s up to us to protect ourselves, to take care of our health. Because otherwise we will depend on others!
This year’s conference took place in Constanta and was dedicated to all those for whom health is a priority and balance a goal.
