Arkase, the invention of the engineer Razvan Mărcuş from Hunedoara County, was awarded the gold medal at this year’s edition of the Euroinvent – European Exhibition of Creativity and Innovation – Iaşi, May 20-21, while also receiving a special prize of 10,000 lei offered by the Dan Voiculescu Foundation through the Scientific Senate.
Răzvan Mărcuş is 23 years old and is a master of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, specializing in mechatronics.
The device made by Răzvan is a microgenerator that has every chance to revolutionize the smartphone industry.
The case can charge smart phones simply by using it on a day to day basis, the way the device works is based on applied physics principles developed by its inventor.
The case captures and converts GPS, wi-fi, radio waves, noise, movement, photovoltaic energy, and even thermal energy from the palm of the user into electricity. The captured energy is enough to run a mobile phone, tablet, or other modern gadgets.
Currently, Razvan is researching the possibility of reducing the thickness of the case from 8 mm to about 3 mm, which would considerably improve user experience.
The idea of making such a product came to him as he was commuting from Brad (hometown) to Cluj. Being a fairly long distance, 5 hours by bus, on the Aries Valley, the phone’s battery would not have enough energy stored for continuous use, so he decided to use any kind of energy to recharge the battery of the phone.
ArKase can be used to charge any type of device such as accessories, tablets, cell phones, ipods and so on.
The device created by Răzvan Mărcuş received multiple awards in multiple competitions on innovation and will be accessible to view until the end of the year.
EUROINVENT is the only event in Romania organized under the aegis of IFIA – International Federation of Inventors’Association. An event created in otred to promote creativity and innovation in an extended international context.
This year more than 500 inventions and innovations from 42 countries were presented at the event. Romania was represented by 18 universities, 13 research institutes, 11 companies and over 20 individual inventors and innovators. More than 15,000 visitors have passed through the gates to explore EUROINVENT.
EUROINVENT is the largest event on development of new inventions from South East Europe.
The 2015 edition featured over 400 inventions and projects in Iasi, having participatipants from over 20 countries around the world. The exhibition is an example of good world practice by: disseminating and promoting the results of scientific research and innovation, concluding research-innovation partnerships, creating new directions of research-development-innovation, facilitating the technological transfer from authors to business, implementing inventions and the scientific recognition of authors’ contributions.
